The Freedom model is the largest Special Needs Buggy made by Advance Mobility a division of the Baby Jogger company. It is essentially a specialist wheelchair with both all terrain and sporting capabilities.

Designed for the older child/young adult 10 years plus with a maximum weight limit of 200lbs (90kg).

The larger seat can also be useful for a younger child requiring postural support where a seat insert (for example a Burnett or Stabilo Vacuum Support Cushion System or even just Microbead Cushions) would reduce the capacity.

We can also supply a smaller versions with a weight limit of 100lbs, the Independence model.

the Freedom buggy is not 'Crash Tested', it cannot be used for transporting a child in a vehicle

Please note that this product is intended for outdoor use, due to it's size it is unlikely that it will be practical for an occupant to be loaded in doors and then wheeled out through a residential doorway.

There are also some extra accessories available, an Extended Footwell which extends the leg length, a Head Rest Extension, a Roll Cushion, Pelvic Strap. The Trabasack Lap Desk is also a valuable accessory which works well with the Freedom buggy.

Please note that the product comes 'flat packed' and requires some putting together before first use - but it's not difficult and does not take very long. It is only available in Navy Blue.

Whilst the Advance Mobility Freedom may be used for someone with special needs the hammock style seat may be unsuitable if they require postural management support, if in doubt please seek the advice of your physiotherapist.

Background Info.

It all started with the Baby Jogger in 1984, and alhough most other manufacturers have tamed the three wheel concept for the city walker Baby Jogger have kept true to their roots and still produce the ideal sport pushchair.

Baby Jogger's mainstream products are high quality specialist pushchairs primarily for Joggers. But don't worry...you don't have to jog with them ! the large 16" wheels make it easier to push with a heavy occupant and it can also cope with rough terrain enabling you to go off road.
